Jelangkung 3 in no prequel to Jelankung nor a sequel of Tusuk Jelangkung. It's a story of one frightful night experienced by each audience who watched Jelangkung in 2001. And the urban legend continues.
One of the audience was Yodi (Andrew Roxburgh), who sat on one of the row of seats 'dedicated' to the spirit of those who died sacrificed for the movie Jelangkung, therefor are forbidden to public use. Their spirits will chase down those who ignore this. Yodi didn't care. He ignored his bestfriends' Patra (Reza Pahlevi) and Cris (Griselda Mitha) protest, he ignored the legend, he ignored what he heard on the radio and what other people's talked about.
Despite all the protests, Yodi decided to sit and watch the movie. It wasn't long until the little boy's spirit from the movie started to appear and terrorize him. Yodi must apologize to the spirit before the full moon ends.
So that night, in the quiet night of Jakarta, Yodi was running out time while at the same time, he must try to gain trust and some help from his best friends again that he was not telling lies this time.
Jelangkung 3 bukan kisah tentang cerita sebelum Jelangkung atau sesudah Tusuk Jelangkung. Ini adalah kisah sehari semalam ketakutan yang dialami oleh penonton film Jelangkung di tahun 2001. Berdasarkan mitos nyata yang ada di masyarakat.
Penonton itu bernama Yodi (Andrew Roxburgh) yang nekat duduk pada salah satu bangku di baris kosong. Konon sebaris bangku kosong itu khusus tumbal film Jelangkung. Siapa yang duduk akan dikejar tumbal. Dia tak memedulikan larangan dua sahabatnya: Patra (Reza Pahlevi) dan Cris (Griselda Mitha), cerita-cerita yang didengarnya di radio dan obrolan pengantri lain.
Lalu Yodi pun duduk dengan tenang menonton film horror itu. Tapi ketenangannya tak bertahan lama. Setan anak kecil di film Jelangkung itu menganggu hidupnya. Sebelum bulan purnama turun, Yodi harus berusaha minta maaf kepada tumbal Jelangkung itu.
Malam itu, Yodi berkejaran dengan waktu di malam Jakarta sepi. Sekaligus mengembalikan kepercayaan Patra dan Cris kalau kali ini dia tak berbohong agar mereka berdua mau membantunya.
